Living Marine Resources Management Act

The current review of the Living Marine Resources Management Act 1995 will determine the objectives of our fisheries. Simply put, it will tackle the question: should our Tasmanian fisheries prioritise economic rents or priorities local employment and jobs?

Further, work to deliver the harvest strategy is still ongoing. Despite the fact that the proposed rule changes to the rock lobster fishery are currently out for comment, if you have been doing your job and listening to your stakeholders, you will already understand that any intention by you to continue with the proposed expansion of the 60-pot area within the rock lobster fishery will see a complete collapse of the local fleet.

Will you put local jobs first and rule out expanding the 60-pot area?
